CNC 09 Boys Fall in Final to Virginia ECNL Power 2-1

CNC 09 Boys Finalists in First Tournament!


CNC 09 boys participating in their first games ever were able to reach the final of the Williamsburg Invitational playing in the top bracket. In the final they matched up against a strong ECNL side in Maclean/Virginia Union.  After falling behind 1-0 on a early penalty kick, CNC were able to bounce back and even the game shortly after on a goal by Jonathan Gallegos.  From that point on the game went back and forth with CNC getting the slightly better of the possession and the game seemed destined to go to a penalty kick shootout, but with less than three seconds to play the Virginia team were able to put a soft header on the CNC goalkeeper and the ball slipt through his wet hands and rolled slowly into the net.

A devastating loss, but in reality a great win for the team.  According to Boys 09 Head Coach, Jonathan Langer, "This team over a short period of time will develop into one of the best teams in the Country." The team is off to a fast start as are the CNC Girls 07 program as they notched a couple of wins over the weekend playing in two friendlies in South Carolina.
